Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 20, 2026
Blank Space ("Blank Space," "we," "us") is an app by Studio DeA that helps you measure a room, discover your style, and design and shop a complete room. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with — including partner brands, if you choose — and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what you give us (your name and email when you sign in, your style quiz answers, your room's measurements, and the rooms you design) and some basic technical information.
- We use it to run the app: to lay out your room, suggest furniture, and save your rooms to your profile.
- If you opt in, we share your profile and style preferences with furniture and home brands we partner with, who may pay us for it and may contact you with offers. You can turn this off at any time.
- We also share anonymous, combined insights (for example, "mid-century sofas are popular in living rooms under 12 feet wide") with partners. These don't identify you.
- You can see, download, or delete your information at any time. Deleting your account in the app removes it from our servers.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and an account identifier from that service. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address instead of your real email.
- Style preferences. Your answers to the style quiz, and the styles we infer from them (for example, "Warm Minimal" and "Mid-Century").
- Room information. Your room type, dimensions, and the positions of doors and windows. These come from a LiDAR or camera measurement, or from what you type in. When you measure with the camera, we keep only the measurements, not images or video.
- Your project. Your budget, bed size, the pieces you want, and the rooms you design and save: their names, layouts, and the products you choose.
- Things you type. Descriptions you give our AI search ("a green wool rug") and requests to change a layout ("put the bed under the window").
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information. A random identifier for your installation (used to count your free photo renders), which features you use, the products you view, swap, and save, and links you tap.
- Technical information. IP address, device type, operating system, and app version. We use IP addresses briefly to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many AI requests can be made per hour).
Information from retailers
When you tap through to a retailer, we may receive information from that retailer or an affiliate network about whether you made a purchase, such as the product and order value. This lets us earn a commission and improve our recommendations.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos from your library, health information, or payment card details. Purchases happen on the retailer's own website.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the app: to lay out your room, check walkways and doorways, match furniture to your style and budget, render your room, and save your rooms to your profile across devices.
- To personalize: to recommend products, styles, and retailers you're likely to like.
- To improve Blank Space: to learn which layouts and products people keep or swap, and to make our recommendations better over time.
- To communicate with you: to send service messages (such as account or security notices) and, if you agree, news and offers from us.
- For partner marketing, if you opt in: see Section 3.
- For safety and legal reasons: to prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, and comply with the law.
3. How we share your information
With partner brands — only if you opt in
If you turn on "Share my profile with partner brands" (when you sign up, or later in Your Rooms), we may share or sell the following to furniture, home décor, and related brands and retailers we partner with:
- your name and email address
- your style preferences
- the room types you're designing, room sizes, and budget range
- the products and categories you've saved, viewed, or shown interest in
These partners may use this information to send you offers and marketing about their products, and may pay us for it. Each partner's use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy. You can turn sharing off at any time in Your Rooms or by emailing us. Turning it off stops future sharing. It can't recall information already shared, but you can ask those partners directly to delete it.
Anonymous and combined insights
We may share or sell information that has been combined and de-identified so that it can't reasonably be used to identify you. Examples include trends in style preferences, popular products by room size, and how often certain pieces are swapped. We don't try to re-identify this information, and we require partners not to.
Service providers
We use companies that process information on our behalf, only to provide our services:
- Cloudflare — hosting and storage
- Anthropic — AI that interprets your searches and layout requests
- Google (Gemini) and Meshy — photo renders and 3D models of products
- Apple and Google — sign-in
Retailers and affiliate networks
When you tap a product, we open the retailer's site (sometimes through an affiliate network) so we can earn a commission. The retailer receives the information that any website visit carries, plus a referral code, and handles any purchase under its own privacy policy.
Legal and business transfers
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. In a merger or sale, this policy will continue to apply to your information.
4. Your choices and rights
- Partner sharing: off unless you turn it on; you can turn it off at any time in Your Rooms.
- Marketing email: unsubscribe using the link in any email.
- Access and download: email us to get a copy of your information.
- Correction: email us to fix anything that's wrong.
- Deletion: delete your account in Your Rooms → Delete Account, or email us. This removes your profile and saved rooms from our servers. Rooms saved only on your phone stay there until you delete the app.
- Sign-in services: you can also stop using Sign in with Apple or Google for Blank Space in your Apple ID or Google account settings.
